state-of-the-art • • • • • (bewertet mit 5 von 5 Punkten) Alle meine Rezensionen ansehen Rezension bezieht sich auf: Non-Places: Introduction to an Anthropology of Supermodernity (Cultural Studies) (Taschenbuch) Augé deals with the concept of "non-places" (non-lieux), formerly targeted by French Sociologist Michel de Certeau and already described by American Geographer Edward Relph in "place and placelessness" (1970s); Augé, however, is the first one to get practical within this topic; he describes non-places and how they differ from the traditional, so called anthropological place; Augés' "Non-Places" have been quoted many times in recent years as vast changes in urban and suburban landscapes become evident. Since then the term has been missused and lost importance (especially in discussions on virtual reality, second life and so on). What makes Augés work so interesting is its interdisciplinary approach that provides material for geography, architecure, sociology, transport, tourism and many more fields.
